A letter from Hartford Public Schools dated October 20, 2026, addressed to parents, guardians, and community members, providing information about a school-wide evacuation drill conducted that morning. The letter appears on official district letterhead, featuring the Hartford Public Schools name, Central Office contact information, and addresses and phone numbers for Hartford High School, Hartford Middle School, Redwood Elementary, and Alternative Education. A faint Hartford Huskies logo appears as a watermark behind the text. The letter reads: "Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members, At Hartford Public Schools, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We are committed to providing a secure learning environment, and part of that commitment includes preparing for emergency situations in a proactive and effective manner. This morning we conducted a school-wide evacuation drill. This drill was a planned and supervised practice that allowed our students and staff to be familiar with emergency evacuation procedures and know how to respond calmly and safely in the event of a real emergency. We understand that drills may cause temporary concern or disruption, but they are a critical component of our emergency preparedness plan. Please be assured that all appropriate safety measures were in place and that the drill was conducted in a structured and sensitive manner. This past Saturday school board member Rob Sheffey and Superintendent Nick Blackmer spoke at the Michigan Association of School Boards leadership conference with our bond construction management company Miller Davis.

Attendees of the session learned about how a bond goes from vision through construction phases while determining the roles and responsibilities of board members and the community.

When asked what makes her proud to be a Hartford Husky, Ms. Manning shares, “I am proud to be a Hartford Husky because I enjoy helping the staff and students. Being a Hartford Husky means being there for others and encouraging them.” Her fun fact is that she is gluten-free, dairy-free, and loves Adventures in Odyssey. Her favorite colors are green and blue. Her motto is, “The less you do, the less you want to do.” Her favorite fast-food restaurant is Jimmy John’s.
